Detroit, Michigan - Pitchin’ ain’t easy.

The Detroit Tigers’ superstar hurler, left-handed starting pitcher Tarik Skubal, has thrown 3,211 pitches at-or-above 95 miles per hour since the start of the 2024 season.

That figure is 234 more than any other Major League Baseball pitcher (statistics courtesy of ESPN Research).

As it turns out, though, Skubal’s flamethrower for a left arm has now paid the price.

During his most recent start, Detroit manager A.J. Hinch visited the mound in the bottom of the seventh as Skubal expressed discomfort in his pitching elbow.

While he stayed in the game, struck out the side, and had the Tigers in position to win, Skubal now must go ‘under the knife’ to remove floating particles from in-and-around his left fulcrum.
